Ever hear of a little band from Detroit called The Romantics? Hear either of these songs just once and they'll be stuck in your head for days, maybe weeks! Just wait… later on tomorrow night sometime after you mistakenly think you've finally exorcised the beast, you'll start singing again out of the clear blue and then you'll shake your fists at me.
Can you believe they are still touring together?
Oh yeah…we've heard of The Romantics. Did you see Wally and Mike's interview entitled: “What About Talking In Your Sleep”? It was available for a very short time on their official site, and good thing, too; because they acted REALLY WEIRD during the interview. In fact, anytime they're asked a question about the aforementioned song, their demeanor immediately changes from OPEN to CLOSED, or stumbling all over themselves in efforts to discredit it. Guess there's some secrets that THEY keep! All I can say is this: “He Who Doth Protest Too Much”…always has something to hide. No matter, Talking In Your Sleep was quite obviously the most inspired song they ever wrote. Can't imagine where they got such an abundance of inspiration, and even though it lasted them through the writing of Rhythm Romance also, since then it has apparently run dry. The songs from 61/49 had been written many years before the release date in 2003. Hmmm…These boys definitely have that special “something”, that's for sure. It's a damn crying shame they can't seem to find that small, very obscure window of opportunity to inspiration that exists for them somewhere in the foggy haze of everyday living. But who knows? Maybe sometimes…just sometimes, somebody somewhere…left a nightlight on and they can find their way back. Night lights have been known to strike twice…especially White nightlights. Perhaps it's just me, but I would think that a band like The Romantics, regardless of them getting on in years, would be anxious to do some quality recording after such a long haitus between records. We wish them the best!!!
I spelled hiatus wrong. My bad!
I seen that interview. It seemed like mike didnt have much to say about the song and kept looking down and away from the interviewer and then at the end he looked like he wanted to laugh while wally kept trying to keep a poker face as he explained the song away like it was no big deal. He acted like what he said had been rehearsed. Mike kept fidgeting with his glass as wally talked, he acted nervous. I mean to me ,talking in your sleep sounded like what you said like somebody obviously inspired it and I think it was there best selling song. Who knows? Somebody should ask them who they wrote the song about. Maybe there nervous for a serious reason. Like the girl was a alien or something. LOL. Hey wally and mike, who did you write that song about? And u must have ment that lightning strikes twice, not nightlites. Iget stuff like that mixed up all time. This is a cool webcite. Some of her art is really out there but I like it. By…..
I heard that wally wrote the song for a chinese girl named Eugenia………..hope this helps.
