It's called Camera Toss, and the object is to toss your (inexpensive) camera while it's set on the slowest shutter speed to capture unique patterns that occur with light during the revolutions. Though they are not fractal images, they tend to look a lot like Apophysis fractal designs because the same basic principles are applied: A structure of light exists and is then captured as it is rotated, each iteration causing the light to appear at different x,y coordinates. Camera Tossing has become popular thanks in part to Flickr, where there is a group of 1,812 members that belong to the Camera Toss Group Photo Pool.
